Cancer Portraits

Cancer Portraits continues my interest in promoting awareness of health and well-being. The work is inspired by many close family members and friends recently diagnosed with cancer. For several of the pieces, the same image is embroidered with different colors that allude to the many aspects of personality, emotions and physical health of each individual. The face is the same but it isn’t. The work utilizes a Warhol trope to draw attention to the mundane and embrace the color and energy of life. Simultaneously it reminds us that many people we know have undergone personal struggles and good health should not be taken for granted.
