The organization of these pieces is inspired by the beautiful, formal gardens of Suzhou, China. Visiting these miniature landscapes in 2004 and 2006, I was awed by the abundance of pattern and elegant harmony of nature, art, and architecture. The gardens include several contemplative spaces with strategic windows revealing beauty beyond the contained enclosures. I have attempted to recreate this idea with my layered net surfaces as well as composing patterns inspired by the exquisite, ornamental structures within the garden arrangement.
